Development of Remote Lighting Management System

Remote Network Management System for Public Lighting using M2M Technologies and its Extensions to Smart Grids

The core objective of the investment proposal was the development of a lighting management system that enables centralized control of street lighting in roads, squares, and other municipal areas. It provides the ability to deliver high-level services to citizens while simultaneously achieving significant savings both in energy consumption (electricity bills) and in operational management costs. The project is based on a set of mature technologies that integrate cutting-edge innovations, making the proposal competitive and adding further value.

At a second level, proposals were also made for enriching the system with additional data that can be collected locally and transmitted to the central server for further monitoring and processing, always under the framework of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) applications.

More specifically, the overall aim of the project was the creation of a single, integrated Web Portal for the Ministry of Finance, which would consolidate the existing portals of the Ministry (e.g., the Central Ministry of Finance Portal, the General Secretariat for Information Systems & Administrative Support, the General Accounting Office of the State, Pensions, Customs, the General State Chemical Laboratory, Public Property, etc.).
This unified portal was designed with a comprehensive structure and standardized format, as well as a mechanism for the systematic management, distribution, and utilization of information (through effective processing with modern methods and tools) concerning taxation, customs, and data related to natural and legal persons. It contributes to the development of the national economy while meeting the needs of citizens and businesses.
